Finished Unframed NC200 Marigold Nora Corbett Cross Stitch Piece
Handmade Cross Stitch Piece stitched by Counting Stitches.
This is a professionally stitched, unframed cross stitch piece that is ready to frame, sew into a pillow, etc.
The pattern used is Nora Corbett's NC200 Pixie Blossom Collection Marigold.
This item is stitched as the pattern calls for except the pixie's skin is stitched using a petit point stitch making it look more lifelike and smoother than the surrounding cross stitch. This technique adds interest and depth to the piece.
The Marigold pixie is stitched using DMC cotton floss, Kreinik metallic braid and Mill Hill beads. It is stitched on 32 count Antique White Jobelan linen.
The pixie's dress is made to look like a Marigold flower and is made using orange, red and yellow threads in multiple tones to blend the petals together.
The pixie's wings are stitched using metallic lavender colors with red highlights.
There are 4 different sizes and colors of Mill Hill beads used to accent the wings and dress.
The finished stitched piece measures approximately 10" from top to bottom and 7-1/4" from side to side.
The piece is centered on a square piece of linen measuring 21-1/2" by 21-1/2" so there is plenty of fabric to be able to finish the piece out however you wish.
Most people either frame these pieces or use them to make pillows, wall quilt hangings or stitch them into some other project.
